about

LION HEART

‘Lion Heart’ is an inventive and fresh take on the familiar story of Easter. The track is reminiscent of Coldplay, Maroon 5 and Muse, and through its intelligent lyrics and lack of Christian clichés, it examines the anguish of the Garden of Gethsemane before climaxing with Jesus’ triumphal acceptance of his fate and future.

“Easter is the perfect time for ‘Lion Heart’ to be released, and I hope that God uses this song to speak to people about his Kingdom and Kingship,” explains Kevin. “It should remind us of Jesus' humanity in his most vulnerable and fragile hour, but most importantly remind us of the eternal King and his sacrifice for all mankind.”

LYRICS

Days of prophecy and hope upon my shoulders, at my door and knocking, I wish it all away.
Facing fears alone and weeping, everybody else is soundly sleeping, waiting for the dawn.

Is there no other way to save the day, another plan? Not my will but yours be done O Lord.

Give me a kingdom, fame, and a fortunes pay, Jerusalem and Rome to reign.
I never thought I'd see the day a king would die this way.
Build up a throne, adorn me in gold, a queen and a son safe inside city walls.
The Lion Heart is not my part today.

Now my final hour is near, the counterfeit with silver kiss is coming, deserters run away.
Spies and lies inciting violence, suffering in shame and silence, raging angels held at bay.

There is no other way to voice my pain, I'm not ok. Alone on coronation day, hailed and crowned with such disdain.

Beaten and battered by the flocks I came to reunite.
Your eyes were blinded by a light, by the light, by my light.

Give me a kingdom, fame, and a fortunes pay, Jerusalem and Rome to reign.
I never thought I'd see the day a king would die this way.
Build up a throne, adorn me in gold, a queen and a son safe inside city walls.
The Lion Heart is not my part.

I'm a king like David, long awaited, born into this world I made.
Came to my own, the nations bought at a price I choose to pay.
I'd do it all again just for you my friend, the price is high but worth every breath.
The Lion Heart and lamb lay down today.
